About Boar It Up Ya!

Hunting is something close to many Australians hearts. For some, it’s part of their heritage and culture, whilst others have been born into it and of course, some rely

on hunting as an income.

There have been many hunting publications around for a few years, so why did I feel the need to start my own magazine?

I have kept the same strategy with the magazine from its inception, simple layout and informative articles every time. Sales and interest in the magazine continue to grow, so I know I’m on the right track!

Every issue we cover hunting techniques with Dogs, Rifles and the occasional Bow Hunting article. There are articles relative to Camping, 4Wding, Motorbikes & ATV’S,

A special section for Kids and many great prizes available each issue and annually!

Hunting pigs with dogs, or “Doggin” as it’s more affectionately known, is probably more popular than shooting pigs in some areas. The dogs are used to flush and hold the pigs whilst the hunter quickly dispatches the pig, this is very popular for those wishing to sell the carcass which eventually adds to our multi million dollar export industry of game meats to Europe. In rural areas where unemployment is high, this activity is the difference between someone having some coins in their pocket, or having to rely on the government for income assistance.

The issue of catching these destructive ferals with the use of dogs has again became a matter of discussion, through lies and anti-propaganda in the media thanks to animal rights groups. I cannot stress the importance and use of ethical hunting methods to all hunters in each issue. Not just for pig doggers, but shooters & bow hunters alike. Even fishing is under the pump from the nut bag libbers. If we don’t stand up and be counted for our actions, and show that we are ethical and hunt / fish legally as a legitimate pastime, they will walk all over us. Get proactive and spread the word when you can, so the next generations can continue to fish and hunt like we have.

So for me, protecting the rights of those who partly rely on this feral animal as income is paramount, and secondly to enable hunting of pigs to continue in an ethical and professional manner in an attempt to control their numbers. If I can show hunters the right way of doing things and letting them know what the Government agencies expect, it makes every second producing the magazine worthwhile!

I hunt myself, and enjoy getting out in the bush with my young family teaching them the ropes, and enjoying some of the awesome rural properties and landscapes that Australia has to offer.

Get out there, learn a bit about hunting pigs by reading Boar it up Ya and stay safe.
